United Way of St. Charles is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Ray Tyree Memorial Citizenship Award, an annual honor recognizing an individual whose volunteerism, outstanding service and dedication have made a significant contribution to the St. Charles Parish community.
The award was established in memory of Ray Tyree, a longtime United Way of St. Charles board member who served the organization in numerous leadership roles, including president, secretary-treasurer and campaign chair. A longtime St. Charles Parish resident, Tyree was known for his civic-mindedness, compassion and kindness.
“The Ray Tyree Memorial Citizenship Award gives us an opportunity to recognize the people who quietly and consistently make St. Charles Parish a better place,” said John Dias, UWSC Executive Director. “We encourage residents to think about the neighbors, coworkers, friends and community volunteers who give their time and talents to help others and consider nominating them for this special recognition.”
Nominees should demonstrate a strong commitment to St. Charles Parish through volunteerism and community service. The selection committee will consider individuals who have made a positive difference in the lives of others, work collaboratively for the betterment of the community, and demonstrate honesty and integrity.
Consideration will be given to both the nominee’s recent accomplishments, their past achievements and ongoing contributions to the community. Nominees may not be current United Way of St. Charles board members, committee members or staff members.
Community members are encouraged to nominate a friend, neighbor, coworker or relative who has given unselfishly to help others. Only one nomination is necessary for an individual to be considered, and the number of nominations received for a nominee will not affect the selection process.

Nominations must be received by Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026.
