UWSC Awards LIVE UNITED Scholarships to Local High School Seniors

United Way of St. Charles (UWSC) awarded LIVE UNITED scholarships to six St. Charles Parish graduating high school seniors.

Each recipient received a one-time cash award of $1,000 recognizing their commitment to community service and their positive impact on the parish through leadership and volunteerism. The scholarships are intended to help defray educational expenses for students attending a postsecondary program of their choice.

“Because of the incredible generosity of our donors and community partners, United Way of St. Charles is honored to be in the position to honor these seniors for their positive impacts in our community,” said Kacy Kernan, director of community impact.

Four of the scholarships were awarded to seniors from Hahnville High School at the awards presentation on April 21, 2026. Recipients from Hahnville High include Avery Oertling, Elizabeth Bishop, Cooper Matherne and Malachi Zeringue.

The other two scholarships were awarded to seniors from Destrehan High School at the awards presentation on April 23, 2026.  Recipients from Destrehan High include McKala Hurst and Jackson Fletcher.

United Way of St. Charles staff and board members congratulate the scholarship recipients and all 2026 high school graduates.
