United Way of St. Charles, in partnership with Blessed to Be A Blessing, is hosting its Annual Backpack Extravaganza on Saturday, July 25, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., or until supplies are exhausted, at the Jerusalem Shriners Building in Destrehan.
The drive-thru event will provide 500 free backpacks filled with school supplies and hygiene kits to St. Charles Parish students. Each backpack package is valued at approximately $55.
The first 200 vehicles to arrive will also receive a $25 gift card.
“We are proud to partner with Blessed to Be A Blessing to help local families prepare for the upcoming school year,” said Kacy Kernan, Director of Community Impact at United Way of St. Charles. “Through the generosity of our supporters and volunteers, we are able to provide essential supplies that help students start the year ready to learn and succeed.”
The event is open to all residents of St. Charles Parish. Participants must provide a valid utility bill or identification showing parish residency. Children must be present to receive a backpack.
