Hurricane Ian, How You Can Help
Like so many others, my thoughts and prayers are with Florida right now. While many of the effects of Hurricane Ian are still unknown, the generous people of St. Charles Parish are already calling our office to ask how they can help out.
We believe that the best people to make decisions about local needs are the people in the area of need. As such, we recommend directing donations related to Hurricane Ian to the United Way Suncoast organization: https://unitedwaysuncoast.org/
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) discourages gifts of clothing to disaster victims. Clothing has to be stored, sorted, cleaned and repackaged, then distributed to people who need it.
The most effective way to help at this time is through monetary donations as the physical needs of the communities are not yet known.
