St. Charles Parish Water Services

Residents have been encouraged to clean hands often; therefore, President Matthew Jewell has directed the St. Charles Parish Water Department  reinstated service to homes that have been disconnected in recent days. No service will be disconnected due to non-payment until further notice; however, residents will continue to be responsible for water usage as well as sewerage and trash services. Payment arrangement plans will be available on a case by case basis when the need arises.

Matthew 25:35 Ministries (St. Charles Parish Food Distribution)

Matthew 25:35 Ministries is remaining open at this time. We are practicing social distancing and sanitation practices. We are doing a drive by pantry. We are not encouraging new clients but I am afraid it is going to happen big time.

We practiced the drive by Sunday with our smaller Sunday pick up and it went well. We do need a lot more volunteers to do pantry under these circumstances. If there are any people in the lower risk groups that would like to volunteer we would love to have them. We also are in need of hand sanitizer if you ever hear of a source of it or the ingredients to make it.

Hours we are working:

     Wednesday 7:30 - 9:30  help unload truck & unload freezers & refrigerators

8:00 - Noonish  help with bagging food, distribution and traffic patrol

     Sundays 6:30 - 9ish

1st Wednesday of the Month  4PM - 7PM Bag and distribution

*Contact Mary Anne Schindler to volunteer at Beronco@hotmail.com We do ask volunteers to be in good health and willing to follow our protocol for health safety.

Greater New Orleans Therapeutic Riding Center (UWSC Partner Agency)

From GNOTRC Executive Director, Anita Hartzell-Hefler:

The decision to close GNOTRC during the outbreak was not easy; knowing many of our participants rely on our services for their mental, emotional, physical and social well being. After much consideration, advisement and recommendation from our local county public health center, we are choosing to suspend all participant activities that do not allow us to maintain the six foot social distancing recommendation by the CDC to avoid getting the coronavirus for the safety health and lives of our at risk populations, participants, volunteers, staff and the community. We will continue to monitor the outbreak, increase sanitation efforts and follow the guidelines of the local public health department.

St. Charles Economic Development COVID-19 Business Resources

St. Charles Parish continues to focus on “flattening the curve” to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and our priority remains protecting the lives of local residents.  We recognize that behavioral changes necessary to mitigate the effects of this health emergency will have negative economic consequences to many of our local businesses.  Parish President Matthew Jewell understands that small business owners may not have the available funds needed to overcome the loss of revenue and sales over the next 8 weeks.  He is working with state and federal leaders to expedite approval of resources and financial assistance programs our local businesses can access.
