United Way of St. Charles Receives School Backpack Program Donation

On Wednesday, April 22, 2015 United Way of St. Charles was presented with a check for its School Backpack Program by local Senior Mortgage Specialist Tasha Bourgeois. In addition to the monetary donation through United Way’s School Backpack Sponsorship Program, Bourgeois offered the organization use of her custom Team Tasha moving truck on an as-needed basis.

“I view this as my way of giving back to the community I love,” stated Bourgeois, a Destrehan resident. “In addition to United Way, I’d like to offer the use of my moving truck to all local organizations, clubs, public assistance groups, fundraisers, schools and churches.”

The United Way of St. Charles School Backpack Program provides nutritious and easy-to-prepare food for hungry children in St. Charles Parish to take home on weekends and school vacations when other resources are not available. Over 500 children receive a backpack each week.
