Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts, How You Can Help
Like everyone else, I have watched the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey with sadness. My prayers and thoughts go to those affected.
Often when these tragedies occur, local, St. Charles Parish residents ask me where they should direct donations.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) discourages gifts of clothing to disaster victims. Clothing has to be stored, sorted, cleaned and repackaged, then distributed to people who need it.
The most effective way to help at this time is through monetary donations as the physical needs of the communities are not yet known. I suggest the following:
