2017 St. Charles Parish Youth Rally

2017 St. Charles Parish Youth Rally

St. Charles Parish's largest back-to-school event, the 2017 Youth Rally, was held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Edward Dufresne Community Center in Luling.

While United Way of St. Charles is a main sponsor of the event, the rally is also sponsored by St. Charles Parish Department of Community Services, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Blessed to be a Blessing, and Alpha Daughters of Zion.

United Way of St. Charles volunteers handed out school supplies to 700 children and approximately 2,200 people (including volunteers) attended the rally.

The rally opened up with performances by a local drumline, musical performances by students, and a keynote speech from the Youth Empowerment Project.

Families in attendance were provided a meal, school bag and supplies, and fun activities. Highlights of the event included a game truck, the Red Cross Pillowcase Project, a snowball truck, face painting, and a cupcake corner. The bloodmobile and Saints super fan, Jarrius “JJ” Robertson also attended the event.

In addition to fun, empowerment workshops, giveaways, and schools supplies, families were given the opportunity to learn about the services available in our community. Representatives from the American Red Cross, Catholic Charities, St. Charles Community Health Center, various schools, and other organizations were on site to share their program and resources.
