United Way of St. Charles Board of Directors approved approximately $2 million for the 2010-2011 fiscal year to fund direct services addressing the needs of St. Charles Parish.
United Way of St. Charles uses this funding to provide support to local agencies in St. Charles Parish. Some of the agencies approved for funding include Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, American Red Cross, St. Charles Community Health Center, ARC of St. Charles, St. Charles 4-H Clubs and Second Harvest.
In addition to providing support to agencies, United Way of St. Charles also develops and implements community impact programs that target specific needs in St. Charles Parish not being met by other agencies. These programs, designed to help people help themselves, include Success By 6, Project Transition and Money Matters: Financial Stability Program.
United Way of St. Charles Board of Directors approved a total allocation amount of $1,988,675 at its June meeting earlier this month.
United Way is able to provide support to agencies and develop programs due to donations made by contributors in the community. All donations made through the United Way of St. Charles annual campaign stay in St. Charles Pairsh, unless a donor requests their contribution be sent elsewhere.
"St. Charles Parish is unique in that the residents are proud of their community and give much of their time and money back to make the parish a better place for all," stated John Dias, United Way of St. Charles Executive Director.
"United Way of St. Charles appreciates the outstanding community support we receive. This support helps us to continue creating lasting chages in St. Charles Parish around the areas of education, income and health."
