About Us
United Way of St. Charles has been working to improve lives since 1955. UWSC is committed to bringing the community together to deliver lasting changes throughout St. Charles Parish.
MISSION
To LEAD and UNITE the community in providing a program of health and human services that is comprehensive, efficient and effective. UWSC focuses on advancing the common good by funding programs that target EDUCATION, INCOME & HEALTH.
Why EDUCATION, INCOME & HEALTH?
When we advance the common good in our community, we create opportunities for a better life for all. We all win when a child is mentored and succeeds in school. We all win when families are financially stable and parents are employed and maintain indepence through retirement. We all win when the basic needs of our community are met.
United Way of St. Charles is committed to accountability, transparency and local leadership.
- UWSC is a local organization, which is independently audited yearly.
- Every decision about its operation is made by local leaders.
- A governing board of 20 community volunteers meets monthly.
- 99 cents of every dollar invested stays in St. Charles Parish, unless donors tells us otherwise.
- Administrative costs are approximately 10%
